The usual bands are free residual chlorine of at least 1 ppm while bathers are in the water and pH between 7.0 and 7.8, though your own licence conditions set the exact figures.

A daily-tested pool consumes DPD No. 1 and phenol red at a predictable rate, so a standing delivery keeps the comparator stocked without a cupboard of ageing foils — tablets kept sealed, cool and dry read true; crushed or discoloured ones don't.
Safety. Reagent tablets are for testing only — never dose them to the pool and never swallow them. Keep kits and refills out of reach of children, store them cool, dry and sealed in their foils, and keep them apart from your pool chemicals so a reagent is never mistaken for a treatment product — and never mix chemicals of any kind.
