Trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) tablets are the standard workhorse chlorine for Hong Kong pools: stabilised, slow-dissolving and easy to feed through a dispenser. Keep free chlorine at 1–3 ppm, correct pH first, and test cyanuric acid now and then if you use tablets year-round.
A 200 g compressed tablet of trichloroisocyanuric acid — nominally around 90% available chlorine, the highest of the common pool chlorines. Each tablet dissolves slowly over several days, releasing a steady stream of sanitiser instead of the peaks and troughs you get from hand-dosing. TCCA is stabilised: it carries its own cyanuric acid, which protects chlorine from sunlight in outdoor pools.

Feed tablets through a floating dispenser or an erosion feeder — never loose in the pool or the skimmer basket, where an undissolved tablet will bleach and etch whatever it rests on. Aim for free chlorine of 1–3 ppm, and check pH before you chase a chlorine reading: above pH 7.8 much of your chlorine sits in a weak form that barely disinfects.
