pH correction and total alkalinity
Sodium carbonate raises pH and can also raise total alkalinity. Sodium bicarbonate is used mainly to raise total alkalinity, so these products are not interchangeable by name or dose. Use test results to establish which adjustment is needed.
Why pH may fall again
Acidic chlorine products such as TCCA can contribute to falling pH and alkalinity. If repeated pH corrections do not hold, check total alkalinity and the wider operating conditions instead of repeatedly increasing a dose without testing.
Use measured adjustments
Follow the supplied label and pool procedure for application and circulation. Retest before further adjustment. The enquiry can include pool volume and recent readings, but a product quotation alone does not establish a dosing instruction.

Is pH increaser the same as alkalinity increaser?
No. This page describes sodium carbonate (soda ash). The alkalinity increaser page describes sodium bicarbonate. Provide both pH and total alkalinity results so the requirement is clear.

What readings should I send?
Send current pH and total alkalinity, pool volume and the chlorine product in use. Include the date of the readings and any recent chemical changes.
